Encouraging communities to collaborate and reduce wildfire risks

The Firewise USA® program is a national initiative by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
This program helps neighbors work together on wildfire preparedness, including defensible space creation, home hardening, and evacuation planning.
It emphasizes community responsibility in planning and design, as well as individual responsibility for safer home construction, landscaping and maintenance.
Neighbors are encouraged to work together to identify risks and develop action plans.
Develop emergency plans and practice
evacuation routes.
Assess our community's specific risks and needs.
Protect homes from embers and flames through various methods, such as installing fire-resistant roofs and windows.
Create a fire-resistant area around homes by removing vegetation and other flammable materials.
Raise community awareness about wildfire risks and safety measures.
By working together, our community can significantly reduce the likelihood of wildfires and their impact.
Residents become better prepared to respond to wildfire emergencies.
When communities go Firewise, they become stronger and safer in the face of wildfire threats.
As a Firewise Community, we may qualify for insurance discounts.
